The program is designed to provide work experience for OC students through part-time jobs on OC campuses.

Frequently Asked Questions

º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ students who are Canadian or have Canadian Permanent Resident Status (i.e. Domestic students) enrolled in degree, diploma or certificate programs that are taking a minimum of two courses per semester and are in a good academic standing are eligible to participate.

International º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ students enrolled in degree, diploma or certificate programs that are taking a minimum of three courses per semester and are in good academic standing are eligible to participate. Please note: If an International º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ student is in the last semester of study with less than three (3) courses remaining, there may be an exception to the three (3) courses minimum.

During the Summer term (May - August), Domestic and International students must have been enrolled as described above and have intent to return to OC in the next Fall term.

There are approximately 300 students employed annually in a variety of jobs including Research Assistants, Success Centre Assistants, Peer Mentors, Recreation Facility Assistants, and Computer Lab Monitors.  

Students are encouraged to apply for positions as soon as they see them posted. Supervisors want to make sure they have people hired to start right away in the Fall, so don’t wait.

Review job postings. Remember, you need to complete all employment paperwork in order for you to start work and get paid. You will become an OC student employee, subject to all regulations and procedures related to student employment.

Students can work a maximum of 15 hours per week during the September – December and January – April terms. During the May – August term, students can work a maximum of 35 hours per week. The maximums are for all student jobs combined, so please make sure you are not working more than allowed. This includes Student Works and IT Services Monitor positions combined.

You and your supervisor must complete and a bi-weekly timesheet. Timesheets are completed through the e-trieve system. It is important to always get your timesheet in on time. You will be paid bi-weekly by direct deposit.
